Hundreds Rappel Down Reunion Tower, Hyatt Regency Dallas For Good Cause

Third-annual Shatterproof Challenge series aims to raise awareness and resources for addiction prevention, treatment and recovery programs

If you saw people rappelling down Reunion Tower or the Hyatt Regency Dallas on Saturday, your eyes weren't deceiving you.

May 21 marked the start of the third annual Shatterproof Challenge Rappel series to raise awareness and resources for addiction prevention, treatment and recovery.

Hundreds of people descended from Reunion Tower and Hyatt Regency Dallas to change the conversation about addiction.

Gary Mendell, CEO and Founder of Shatterproof, said, “Today, we bring the conversation about addiction out into the open, free of shame and stigma."

"With the money raised, Shatterproof will continue to develop and support programs to combat this devastating and growing disease. Today we rappelled in honor of those we have lost, and we rappelled to bring hope to those who are still suffering. Thank you to everyone who participated.”

Those participating had to fundraise a minimum of $1,000 on top of a $35 registration fee to be eligible to rappel. Individuals also had the option to rappel from 10 or 50 stories.
