Hundreds of people are expected to attend a memorial to say goodbye to North Texas trailblazer Adelfa Callejo.
For more than 50 years, the well-known Dallas attorney and long-time civil and political activist fought for civil rights reforms and mentored attorneys and leaders in Dallas.
Callejo survived three different bouts with cancer -- breast, colon and brain cancer -- but succumbed to brain cancer just before midnight Friday, Jan. 24. She was surrounded by family.
A public Memorial Mass will for Callejo is scheduled for Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of our Lady of Guadalupe on Ross Avenue in Downtown Dallas.
