Human Remains Found in Big Spring Pasture

Remains discovered Tuesday

Police say human remains have been found in a West Texas pasture and the FBI has been summoned to process the scene.

Big Spring police say the remains were discovered Tuesday afternoon by some workers in the area.

Police say the scene has been secured and an FBI evidence response team is expected Wednesday in Big Spring, about 100 miles southeast of Lubbock.

A police statement says investigators determined the remains are human but the gender and identification are unknown. Police say the remains "appear to have been there for a long period of time."

The area is in southwest Big Spring, near McMahon-Wrinkle Airport.

Police did not immediately provide further details Wednesday. A spokeswoman for the FBI in Dallas declined comment on the investigation.
