Some teachers in the largest public school system in Texas could be fired for failing to improve student test scores.
Trustees are the Houston Independent School District on Monday were scheduled to review the proposal, which could face a vote Thursday.

The two largest teacher associations in HISD, with 295 schools and more than 200,000 students, oppose the plan. Houston Federation of Teachers president Gayle Fallon said she is considering a court challenge.
HISD already uses a statistical analysis of student test scores to decide which teachers get performance bonuses.
The Houston Chronicle reports that same complex formula, the so-called value-added method, would be used to highlight ineffective teachers starting next school year.
