A Houston man has been charged with killing a 25-year-old woman whose burned body was found in a Pasadena field.
Harris County jail records show 37-year-old Jose Valentin Noriega was being held Thursday on a murder charge. Online jail records do not list an attorney for Noriega, whose bond was set at $70,000.
Police say Noriega was booked Wednesday over the death of Rocio Montoya. His body was discovered Monday by firefighters responding to a blaze. A medical examiner lists the cause of death as strangulation with blunt force trauma to the head.
Investigators did not immediately release a possible motive in the slaying. Pasadena police on Thursday did not immediately return messages.
