Home Surveillance Camera Catches Burglars Inside a North Dallas Home

A North Dallas couple is hoping home surveillance video will help catch two men who broke into their home Wednesday morning.

"It looks like they both had guns," said homeowner Michael Farrell. "Looks like they were just looking for something good to take."

The burglars broke in through the back door, and wandered inside the home for nearly five minutes.

One of their dogs reacting to the intruders set off the motion sensor on their home video camera, which sends an alert to Farrell's cell phone.

"I always look at it, see everything is OK, put my phone down and go on about the rest of my day," but Farrell said Wednesday was different. "Realized this time it actually is for real."

The surveillance video shows two men come in the backdoor.

A North Texas couple is hoping their surveillance video will help catch two men who broke into their home.

"One guy looks like he has a skeleton mask on, so you can't see their faces," said Farrell. "As they're going around, one guy had to duck through our doorways, so this was a very tall guy."

The doorways are 6-feet 10-inches tall.

Farrell says he saw video of the intruders on his phone security camera app and called police, then he talked to them through a microphone function on the app.

"I just told them 'get out, get out! The police are coming,'" Farrell said.

The video shows one suspect turning towards the camera and then running out of the house.

"They realized they're on camera. Someone knows they're here," said Farrell. "Their reaction was 'get out now!'"
