Hollywood Actress With North Texas Roots on NBC

NBC 5 caught up with the former teachers of Jaimie Alexander, the lead actress in NBC’s Blindspot, which airs Monday nights.

Jaimie Alexander grew up in Grapevine and attended Colleyville-Heritage High School.

Her former teachers remember her has Jamie Tarbush.

“She was just larger than life and I remember we had so much fun in my class,” said Amy Griggs, Jamie’s former math teacher. “She was my teacher aide, so I got know her because she would separate papers for me and help me get things organized.”

Instead of joining the acting department, Jamie joined the school’s wrestling team.

“I remember her senior year, I just thought that it was so cool that a girl would do that because at that time, this was 2001-2003 school year, I think she was the only one,” said Griggs.

“She’s not the type that followed the crowd. She always did her own thing. That’s why, when other kids were doing high school musicals, she told me 'I don’t want to be in musical.' She said, ‘I don’t want to sing, so I’m not doing it and I’m going to wrestle!’” said her former English teacher, Bobbe Knutz.

At 18, Jamie moved to Hollywood to pursue acting.

“She made good grades. She was a good student. She could have been an excellent college student. She could have done anything she wanted, but that’s where her heart was, that’s where her passion is,” said Griggs.

Added Knutz, “Jamie Tarbush knew who she was a long time and she knew what she wanted and she just is a person of character.”

And of her new role?

“I think Jamie is a little more light-hearted than that, at least she was when I was around her. But that shows what a great actor she is. She can pull it off,” said Griggs.

“That role doesn’t surprise me 'cause that’s who she is. She’s very determined. She’s very independent, so athletic, her being able to do all those action moves. I thought she was incredible,” said Knutz.
