“Hiring Our Heroes” Job Fair in Grand Prairie Thursday

Event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Grand Prairie Reserve Complex Thursday, March 20

More than 70 employers will be participating in a Hiring Our Heroes job fair at the Grand Prairie Reserve Complex Thursday.

It is estimated that there hundreds of thousands of unemployed vets and in the next five years, another 1 million vets will be released from active duty, so NBC News has partnered with various groups to launch job fairs aimed at hiring 500,000 veterans and military spouses by the end of 2014. To date, 255,000 hires have been confirmed toward this goal.

More than 21,500 local hires have resulted the Hiring Our Heroes fairs in the past.

The job fair will be held at the Grand Prairie Reserve Complex at 379 Armed Forces Drive, Building 8300 on March 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The job fair is for veterans, active duty military, guard and reserve members as well as military spouses.

A workshop will also be held for veterans and other military job seekers that focus on resume writing, tips for successfully navigating job fairs, military skill translation and interviewing. That workshop starts at 9 a.m.

Interested job seekers should register for the event for free. Walk-in job seekers are allowed (veterans mush provide proof of service).
