Arlington Officer Hit by Car During High-Speed Chase

A high-speed chase that started when an Arlington police officer was hit by car, has ended.

The officer approached a man and a woman who he thought were acting suspicious in a car at The Parks at Arlington mall Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

While the officer was talking to them, they sped away and struck the officer with their car as they left.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Several other officers started following the couple in the car as they drove east on Interstate 20.

The chase ended about 30 minutes later in Dallas in the 5100 block of Illinois Avenue.

The man jumped out of the car and was arrested for aggravated assault of an officer and evading arrest. He also had a warrant out for a parole violation.

The woman sped away in the car before police could arrest her. She is still at large and faces an evading arrest charge.

Arlington police told NBC 5 there were two crashes related to the pursuit during the chase.

There's no word on the severity of those accidents.
