Hebron HS Football Field Burnt by Fireworks

Carrollton police and Lewisville Independent School District leaders are trying to figure out who did major damage to a high school football field last weekend.

Investigators said coaches arrived to the Hebron High School stadium Monday morning to find a black hole burned into the center of the field.

Right on the “H” at the 50 yard line, students and families in the district now find the approximately 4-foot-by-4-foot burn that is believed to be a result of someone lighting off fireworks there.

Carrollton Police Spokesperson Jolene DeVito said it happened sometime between Saturday night and Monday morning, but so far, detectives have been unable to locate any surveillance video in the area or much evidence at the field to point to a suspect.

Leaders at the Lewisville ISD said they’re still evaluating the cost of the damage and how to go about repairing it.

Parents and students working out at the field Friday said it’s disappointing to see someone would damage their home field.

"People just don't think. It's a little bit disappointing, and now the school has to pay for it,” said Scott Genard, father of two teens on the football team.

Investigators ask that anyone who has information in the incident contact Carrollton police at 972-466-3290.
