Heavy Rain Soaks Navarro County

Rain soaked Navarro County again overnight Thursday, sending emergency crews into overdrive.

Heavy rain moved through the area into Friday morning and crews raced to rescue people from high water and closed of roads before more became stuck.

Many drivers became stuck in high water near Interstate 45 Business and U.S. Highway 287.

"There's so much water I couldn't even open my doors at first," Rickey Newell said. "Luckily the water finally went down."

Two weeks ago, 20 inches of rain washed away streets and bridges, closed schools and pushed a train off the tracks in Navarro County.

NBC 5's Ellen Bryan contributed to this report.
