Residents of a small Texas town are shaking out their shoes and laundry piles a little more than usual after a pet cobra vanished from his home earlier this week.
Nick Ferguson, who's the animal control officer in Brownwood, says the sunset monocle is 12 to 16 inches long and whitish-pink in color. He says the owner noticed his snake was missing from his home Monday and had been looking for it when he was arrested Wednesday on a drug charge.
Ferguson says the illegal snake could be hiding somewhere in the house -- or somewhere out on the town of almost 20,000 residents 150 miles southwest of Dallas.
A herpetologist from the Abilene Zoo 65 miles away is helping a state game warden and Ferguson with their search.
