Squad Car Stolen by Man in Handcuffs: Police

Dallas police are searching for a man who despite being handcuffed, managed to get his arms in front of him and drive away in a squad car, which he later abandoned.

Dallas police had arrested James Huffer, early Sunday morning after responding to a call at an apartment complex alleging that the 31-year-old had assaulted his girlfriend. The arrest happened in the 4600 block of Cedar Springs.

While Huffer was in the back of the squad car alone, he managed to maneuver his arms in front of him, climb into the front seat of the squad car and take off.

The car was found about 7am in Arlington about 20 minutes after the escape. The car was not damaged and had nothing missing.
Police are asking if you have any information in the escape to call crime stoppers at 214-373-8477.
