The park will feature a picnic pavilion and a small water park.

Haltom City is a step closer to getting its ninth park.

A $200,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will be used to finish the park, which is expected to feature a picnic pavilion and a small water park.

The park will encompass an area known for flooding problems, including the Skyline Mobile Home Estates where a child died in 2007 when water rose quickly during a storm.

Planners hope the park is completed next year.
