HS Teacher Charged for Student Relationship: Irving Police

Teacher admits to kissing student, allowing him to touch her in 2014, police say

An Irving MacArthur high school teacher has been arrested, accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student, police say.

On March 17, a school resource officer at MacArthur High School learned that in April 2014 teacher Kaitlyn Renee Granado, then 23, was involved in a relationship with a male student who was 15-years-old.

Police said they and district officials were immediately notified and that on Thursday they arrested Granado on a charge of improper relationship between educator and student, a second degree felony.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Granado voluntarily agreed to an interview with police where she admitted to kissing the student and allowing him to touch her breasts.  The student, in an interview on Wednesday, confirmed the relationship to police.

According to the arrest warrant, Granado taught at the school between April 1, 2014 and April 30, 2014.

She is being held at the Irving City Jail on $10,000 bond.

Detectives said they do not think Granado was involved with any other students, but encouraged anyone with information to contact the Irving Police Department or an Irving Independent School District employee.
