Initial reports that Dallas Fire-Rescue HAZMAT crews were investigating the death of a person at a home on Swiss Avenue Thursday afternoon were a misunderstanding.
Officers with the U.S. Marshal's Office arrived at the residence Thursday to issue a warrant in reference to a medical fraud case regarding a suicide that happened 5 years ago.
While there, they noticed 60-100 chemical canisters in three areas of the home. In the garage and a small shed they found chemicals used to develop photographs. In the basement, they found chemicals that were used to make vitamins and other nutritional supplements.
They called Dallas Fire-Rescue who determined all of the chemicals were harmless.
Due to the age of the canisters, the fire department called in an environmental services company to clean up the mess.
