Gunshots, Bagpipes Heard Suburban Houston School Grounds

A handgun and shell casings have been recovered from the scene.

Fort Bend County authorities say one man has been arrested after police received reports of gunfire from the roof of an elementary school about 25 miles southwest of Houston.

Police say a second man taken into custody -- playing bagpipes Sunday morning on the school grounds-- was not involved and has been released. Rosenberg Police Lt. William Henry says the bagpipes player was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

But 20-year-old Christian Pieper faces multiple charges for the gunfire at Valesquez Elementary School near Richmond. He's in custody on drug abuse charges.

Rosenberg police, who provide security to the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, found shell casings on the roof, plus damage to a window and air conditioner from what appears to be gunshots.

No injuries are reported.
