Gunman in Wheelchair Fatally Shot by Police

San Antonio police have fatally shot a gunman in a wheelchair who refused to drop his weapon after allegedly shooting another man during a fight.

San Antonio police Chief William McManus says officers Thursday night several times ordered the 45-year-old man to put down his revolver, but he refused.

Two officers who felt threatened opened fire on the suspect, who was transported to a hospital and later died. Police say the man who was shot during the initial dispute with the suspect has injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Investigators are trying to determine why the two men argued on a street. Their names weren't immediately released. Police did not immediately say why the suspect was in a wheelchair.

Two officers have been placed on administrative duty pending a review.
