Grapevine Officer Arrested in Child Porn Probe

A North Texas police officer has been arrested in a child pornography investigation involving explicit DVD recordings.

Federal prosecutors in Fort Worth on Wednesday announced Grapevine Officer Phillip Woolery has been charged with receipt and attempted receipt of child pornography.

The 47-year-old officer was arrested Tuesday at his home in Crowley and faces a detention hearing.

U.S. Postal Service inspectors connected Woolery's home address and email to the January 2010 purchase of a DVD set with images of child pornography. The DVDs were mailed to Woolery's home address.

The DVD set was confiscated Tuesday at Woolery's residence.

Conviction for receipt and attempted receipt of child porn carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Grapevine police did not immediately reply Wednesday about Woolery's status with the department.
