Grand Prairie police said a driver who led police on a chase Thursday has been identified.
Police said Thursday afternoon that a police officer in a high prostitution area spotted the driver of a sport utility vehicle stop in the middle of the road on the 1600 block of Dalworth Street and a female approach and jump in the vehicle.
Believing that he had witnessed a prostitution offense, the officer attempted to stop the driver at about 10:20 a.m.
Instead of stopping, the driver, later identified as 20-year-old Andrew Solis, sped away and the officer followed, police said.
During one portion of the pursuit, the driver was said to be traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Loop 12 for some time. Later in the pursuit, the driver drove the wrong way on Interstate 30 and onto the cloverleaf for state Highway 360 and Interstate 30.
Instead of following the wrong way, Dallas police assisted in the pursuit using their Air-1 helicopter.
As the driver made a turn near 30 and 161 he hit a street sign. The driver didn't give up there, however, and tried to escape on foot.

Solis ran down an embankment and onto the main lanes of SH 161 where he was taken into custody by police.
A Grand Prairie police officer received medical treatment after the chase for minor injuries after falling as far as 10 feet off a retaining wall along the 161 service road.
As he was arriving at the Grand Prairie Detention Center, Solis told officers he swallowed a large amout of narcotics during the chase. He was hospitalized, treated and later released back into the custody of the police department.
Solis currently faces a charge of felony evading arrest. More charges are expected to be forthcoming, police said.
The woman, whose identity is not being released, was placed in handcuffs for a short time but is no longer in custody, police said.
