Grand Prairie Mother Arrested After Child Dies of Head, Abdomen Injuries

Investigation into child's death is ongoing, police say

The mother of a 4-year-old girl who died March 13 has been arrested, accused of injury to a child.

Jeri Quezada, 30, was taken into custody on Friday, March 25, and held at the Grand Prairie Police Detention Facility on a charge of Injury to a Child with a $500,000 bond.

Quezada's daughter, Leiliana Wright, was taken by the Grand Prairie Fire Department March 13 to the Medical Center of Arlington, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner later revealed the girl died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen and head. Further details have not been released.

"Detectives, in conjunction with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as well as Child Protective Services, are actively investigating to sort through all of the evidence recovered at the scene and developing a timeline of what happened in the hours leading up to this tragic incident," police said in a statement.

Police did not say if there would be any other charges filed in the case.
