The police departments of Grand Prairie and Arlington are naming a new chief, and assistant chief, respectively.
In Grand Prairie, the city will swear in Steve Dye Thursday as the city's next police chief. Following the swearing in ceremony, there will be a reception in Dye's honor.
Dye was previously the chief in Colleyville.
In Arlington, veteran officer Jamie Ayala has been named the city's newest assistant chief. Ayala joined the department 22 years ago and is the first Hispanic on the force to be named assistant chief.
Ayala was one of three officers promoted on Wednesday.
