Graffiti Bomb Threat Delays Start of Dallas Middle School

Teachers and students arrived at Raul Quintanilla Sr. Middle School Wednesday morning to find graffiti scrawled on doors saying a bomb was inside, among other inappropriate messages.

Officials with the Dallas Independent School District Police Department searched the school and found nothing suspicious inside.

As the maintenance department cleaned the graffiti the children were allowed into the building to begin the school day.

DISD police are looking over surveillance video to try to find the vandals.

Principal Angela West sent a letter home to parents Wednesday alerting them to the incident and highlighting how the school responded.

Dear Parents:

The safety of our students is always our top priority at Raul Quintanilla Sr. Middle School. When issues of concern are brought to our attention, we feel it is important to share them with you.

This morning, school administrators found several inappropriate messages spray-painted on the outside of the school building. As a precautionary manner, administrators withheld students from entering the building until the Dallas ISD police department gave clearance, after which students were allowed to enter the building at about 8:10 a.m. to begin their instructional day without further interruption.

The incident is under investigation by Dallas ISD police to find the person(s) responsible so appropriate disciplinary and/or criminal action may be taken.
We take great pride in working with you to ensure Quintanilla provides a positive learning environment for all students. Thank you for your efforts and your continued support of Raul Quintanilla Sr. Middle School.
