Gov. Rick Perry Offers Prayers After Boston Marathon Bombing

Texas Gov. Rick Perry released a statement Monday afternoon, just hours after two bombs went off near the finish line at the Boston Marathon.

“The scene at the Boston Marathon today is a sobering vision for us all, especially those who have friends or loved ones competing in today’s race. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those injured in the explosions, along with the first responders who braved danger to help get the wounded to safety," Perry said in the prepared statement.

As of this writing, the two bombs are believed to have killed two people and injured another 23, according to the Boston Police Department.  That number may change.

Additionally, the Associated Press is reporting two more explosive devices have been found near the scene of the Boston marathon. The devices, officials said, are being dismantled.

Officials have not determined what the motive was behind the attack or who may be responsible.
