The interim city manager for Dallas has been promoted to the permanent job.
The Dallas City Council on Tuesday unanimously appointed A.C. Gonzalez as city manager.
Gonzalez takes over for Mary Suhm, who retired last year after 35 years of working for Dallas in various city positions. She spent eight years as city manager.
Gonzalez was an assistant city manager before being named interim city manager last summer. He'll manage a staff of approximately 13,000 employees and a budget of nearly $3 billion.
