Heavy rain, thunder and lightning forced thousands of eager country music fans under cover Friday at the 3rd Annual ACM Party For a Cause Festival at Globe Life Park in Arlington.
“Bummed out, yes,” said concert goer Luciano Silva.
Festival organizers delayed the concert for about two hours, as some of the biggest names in country music, like Reba McEntire, Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan, had to wait out the storm.
One couple drove from Boston, Mass., for almost 23 hours to get to North Texas for the country music weekend.
“It’s crazy,” said Casey Dinicola. “We haven't seen rain from where we are in a while.”
Many people were armed with ponchos and umbrellas as the slow moving storm made its way through Arlington, but the mood at Globe Life Park stayed festive even with the concert delay and rain shower.
“Oh, it’s perfect,” said Caitlin Halfman. “It could not be any better. I love rain.”

The two-day outdoor music event continues Saturday with multiple stages for live country music, interactive experiences, a country marketplace with vendors from across the country and more.
The festival will begin at noon on the North Lawn of Globe Life Park with performances on the outdoor stage. Then, events will move inside the ballpark to celebrate the Academy's 50 years of history.
Scheduled performers include Dierks Bentley, Clint Black, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Sam Hunt, Miranda Lambert, Patty Loveless, Ronnie Milsap, Darius Rucker, Dwight Yoakam, Alabama, Eli Young Band and Florida Georgia Line.
