Giving a Patriotic Twist to Tex-Mex Classic

A local Tex-Mex restaurant chain is giving a traditional Mexican dessert a patriotic twist this weekend.

El Fenix, known as the origin of Tex-Mex cuisine, is blending the divide by offering red, white and blue star-shaped sopapillas this holiday weekend.

Sopapillas are a deep-fried Mexican pastry that’s similar to a doughnut. They are typically eaten with honey or sugar.

The sopapillas will be available from July 3-5. They are complimentary with the purchase of any entrΓ©e and will be available at all 22 El Fenix locations.
