Girl, 12, Driving Siblings Crashes SUV Into Church: Fort Worth Police

A 12-year-old girl was driving an SUV with her three younger siblings inside when she crashed into a Fort Worth church Thursday night, according to police.

Investigators said the girl decided to drive her 7-year-old brother, 6-year-old sister and 1-year-old brother around the block after their father went to the store at about 9 p.m. [[313181651,C]]

The girl was driving a 2003 Chevrolet SUV south on St. Louis Avenue, Fort Worth Police Department spokesman Scott E. Conn said.

When she tried to turn east onto West Pafford Street, she crashed the SUV into the Iglesia Bautista Calvario of Fort Worth at 3839 St. Louis Avenue.

"The church has got a little ding to it, but that's not going to hurt anything," church volunteer Carroll Webb said.

No one in the vehicle was injured.

Church members Rafaela and Daniel Espiricueta came over to the church to see the damage when they found out about the accident.

“There could have been children playing because children across the street, they are always playing out here," said said Rafael. "Somebody could have gotten hurt, or they themselves could have gotten hurt.”

People who live across the street are relieved, too.

"It's scary knowing there was a 12-year-old behind the wheel," neighbor April Hernandez said. "It could have been worse."

Witnesses told NBC 5 that the girl's family lives about three blocks from the church.

Fort Worth Police told NBC 5 there won’t be any charges.

NBC 5 checked with Child and Protective Services, who said the kids are not in state custody. CPS cases are confidential.
