You go out of town for a few days, you take the long flight back, and all you want to do is get in your car and go home.  Then you notice your engine sounds funny, and you realize you've just become the victim of a crime.

It happened twice to drivers who parked in the remote north parking lot at DFW Airport last week.  They came back to find someone had cut the catalytic converters off of their cars.  The converters have become hot items for metal thieves in recent years.

According to airport police reports, one of the drivers, "noticed his vehicle ran very rough when he started his engine" and called police.

Both drivers owned Toyota 4Runners.  And, both are now in one of those rare circumstances, where the airport valet may have been cheaper than the remote lot.
