Gear Stolen From 2 Houston-Area Patrol Cars

Investigators have arrested an apparent repeat offender after weapons and law enforcement tactical gear were stolen from two Houston-area patrol cars.

Harris County sheriff's deputies helped search for more suspects after Sunday's break-ins that included some county constable vehicles.

Authorities say thieves in northwest Harris County broke windows of the patrol cars and stole at least one handgun, ammunition, protective vests and handcuffs.

Lt. Stan Jolly with the Precinct 4 Constable's Office says the man who was arrested was wearing an electronic monitoring device on his ankle. The suspect's name and further details on his criminal history were not immediately released.

A message left with the constable's office wasn't immediately returned Monday.
