Gas Theft Suspect in Custody After Chase: Grapevine Police

Grapevine police believe they caught one person believed to be responsible for a series of gas thefts  in the area around Grapevine Mills Mall over the weekend.

Police said Monday night an officer saw a truck matching the description of the vehicle wanted in the weekend gas thefts and tried to pull the truck over.

After a short chase and scuffle the driver was taken into custody near Skate Town in the 2000 block of William D. Tate Avenue right off State Highway 121.

Grapevine police say one officer was injured in the scuffle with the suspect, but he is expected to be okay.

Officers searching the truck found a plastic gas can and a hose they believe was used in the crime.

Police said over the weekend thieves drilled into the gas tanks of  three F-150 trucks, spilling fuel onto the parking lot. The incidents happened at Grapevine Mills Mall, Bass Pro Shops and Spring Hill Suites.

In all three incidents the Grapevine Fire Department was called out to deal with the spilled fuel.
