Atmos Energy crews worked for several hours to cap the line on Tuesday afternoon at Farm-to-Market Road 2499. Crews will replace the broken line and repave FM 3040, Flower Mound Emergency Officer Brandon Barth said.

"It's definitely a headache. It can be quite dangerous," Barth said. "Our main purpose is to keep everyone safe. Keep the public away from the dangerous area."

Businesses nearby were not evacuated, but the road closure affected some restaurants and stores in the area.

"I had to drive through neighborhoods to get here. It was very hectic," said Ciara Delacruz, a hostess at Anamia's Tex-Mex restaurant. "As far as I can tell, the traffic hasn't helped our business."

Delacruz said the restaurant is usually busy on Tuesdays. She believes the road closure deterred customers from coming in.

"It's a slower trickle of people coming in rather that the big groups we usually see tonight," Delacruz said. "Everybody is just trying to get home."
