Garland MS to Remain Closed for Several More Days

It will be awhile before classes resume at Webb Middle School.

Classes were canceled through at least next Monday after a fire damaged several classrooms Monday evening.

The fire not only caused structural damage, but several classrooms also had fire, smoke damage and water damage from broken water pipes.

Arson investigators determined the fire in the Life Skills classroom was not intentionally set. The room had an oven, washer and dryer in the room -- all of which will be tested for possible electrical failures. Results can take up to 10 weeks.

Officials said they would decide next week when they would reopen the campus, but expect classes to resume after winter break on Jan. 4.
