The Curtis Culwell Center opened for business Tuesday, but Sunday's shooting left question's about the arena's future.
The Garland Independent School District's event center was closed Monday after two men shot at a security guard and a police officer outside of the building during a provocative Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest Sunday night.
After nearly 25 percent of students — about 550 students — at nearby Namaan Forest High School were out of school Monday, district officials said they will consider whether nonscholastic events should be held at the publicly-owned arena.
"We will definitely look into changing how we rent out that arena," district spokesman Chris Moore said. "We're going to have to, in light of what happened."
Legal experts said the school board could invite lawsuits if they tried to stop just one group's art show. They would have to implement a broader policy change.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the school board will reconsider those policies at a session May 12.
"I know we’re required by those [non-discrimination] limitations by law, but being equitable still can’t trump safety," Moore said. "You shouldn’t have things like this happen anywhere, but certainly not at a public school district facility."
