Funeral for Elite News Publisher Scheduled

Jordan "Randy" Blair will be laid to rest February 23

The funeral for DFW Elite News publisher Jordan "Randy" Blair will be held Thursday, February 23.  The Dallas native lost his battle with cancer early Friday morning.

According to a press release from The Marketing Collaborative, Blair's Memorial Service will held Wednesday, February 22 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church at 2420 Metropolitan Avenue in Dallas.

Blair's Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church at 7550 South Hampton Road in Dallas.

Blair graduated in 1975 from David W. Carter High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University.  For 14 years, he worked as the publisher of the DFW Elite News, a weekly newspaper that served Dallas' African-American community.  He worked alongside his father, William Blair, who founded the newspaper.

In 2010, NBC 5 profiled the DFW Elite News. In an interview with NBC 5's Kristi Nelson, Blair said "our niche is the church community and doing things within our community, covering our stories that people normally don't cover."

Blair is survived by his wife Brenda and three children, Jordan II, Harrison and Taylor.
