Funeral Wednesday for Texas Deputy Who Died in Floods

Mourners will gather to remember a Central Texas sheriff's deputy who died after being swept away by floodwaters while checking low-water crossings.

The funeral for Travis County sheriff's Senior Deputy Jessica Hollis will be at 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday.

The service is at Hill Country Bible Church in Austin, followed by burial at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

Hollis disappeared before dawn last Thursday while on patrol during thunderstorms that dumped up to 7 inches of rain in the Austin area. She managed to radio for help but Hollis was missing when her patrol car was found submerged. Her body was recovered Friday afternoon in Lake Austin.

Visitation was scheduled Tuesday night at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville.
