A fund benefiting the children of a Rockwall mother allegedly shot and killed by her former boyfriend, a former Hunt County constable, was created Wednesday.
Jessica Aguilar, 33, was gunned down in a parking lot outside the Harbor shopping district in Rockwall on Saturday night. Her companion, Francisco Delacruz, was also shot and remained in serious condition Wednesday.
Former Hunt County Constable Anthony DeWayne Lewis has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder in the shooting.
On Wednesday, her sister, Isabel Aguilar, set up a fund at American National Bank in Rockwall for her sister's three children.
"I hope I don't let her down," Isabel Aguilar said. "She's a great mother and even though I am the older sister, she didn't know I was looking up to her."
Isabel Aguilar is caring for the three children, whose father died a few years ago.
"It's going to change our lives so dramatically. ... I'm not even sure what to expect in the near future," she said. "I have graduations to think about, college -- not only for my kids, but for hers, which are my kids now."

Funeral services for Jessica Aguilar will be held on Friday in Garland. A burial will follow in Lake June.
Lewis, who was shot by police after a chase, is recovering at a Dallas hospital. His condition was upgraded to serious on Monday morning.
His bond has been set at $1.5 million.
According to arrest affidavits, Lewis called 911 while police chased him and admitted to shooting two people. He allegedly told investigators he was armed and didn't want to be "taken alive" by law enforcement.
