Frisco Police Investigate Break-ins

Frisco police are investigating possible connections between three burglaries reported last Thursday.

The crimes happened in neighborhoods near Eldorado Parkway, between Independence Parkway and Custer Road.

Police say the reported actions of the thieves matches other recent burglaries in city limits, but they’re still looking into any possible connections.

Families were robbed of cash and jewelry, with the burglars forcing entry.

Neighbors say the crooks gained access through back doors or windows.

“The sense of loss and being violated by strangers for things you’ve worked for your whole life to be taken from you – you don’t repair that,” said Greg Boatwright, who lives in Stonelake Estates West.

The neighborhoods have a dense population of neighbors of Indian descent.

Ram Palyam tells NBC 5 he bought security cameras he plans to install right away after hearing about the crimes from neighbors.

“Generally, Indian families will carry some gold at home, so that’s why we feel they are targeting,” Palyam said, adding his family and some friends and neighbors have also secured safety deposit boxes at local banks to keep family heirlooms out of possible harm’s way at home.

“Even though we have the security, we want to make sure for ourselves for safety,” he said.

Frisco police say they can’t confirm these break-ins are targeting any specific ethnic group.

However, a federal investigation is open nationally into the theft of valuable heirloom gold from families of Southeast Asian descent.

Neighbors report seeing a “suspicious vehicle” in the area prior to the break-ins, which they describe as unmarked mail delivery style truck.
