A Frisco teen should be packing for college, but instead he's preparing for a long road to recovery.
A bad accident left the 18-year-old football player hospitalized. Now, friends and family are cheering him on in a way they never expected.
Logan Saenz, 18, didn't just stand out on the football field. Friends say his personality often highlights their day.
"We were neck-and-neck for most tackles and interceptions and he would get so mad if I got more in one game. We were always competing, but I loved it,” former teammate TJ Keys said.
Logan wore jersey number 36 for Frisco High School.
"He loved it,” mother Terri Saenz said. “He was a big hitter and he loved playing middle linebacker."
His parents, Terri and Felix Saenz, say Logan was considering playing ball in college and even had a meeting set up with a coach in May.

But Logan never made it. He was on his way to the gym May 19 when he crashed along Lebanon Road in Frisco. His family thinks he swerved, hit a curb and was thrown from his vehicle.
Logan was rushed to the Medical Center of Plano paralyzed from the waist down.
"When we got the news, I think the whole family dropped to their knees,” Felix said.
The investigation into what caused the wreck is ongoing.
While Logan remained sedated for three weeks, teammates accepted his high school diploma on his behalf.
"It was awesome. The whole community supports him in every way,” former teammate Grayson Thorburn said.
Last weekend, friends presented him with a framed jersey signed by FHS football players and coaches.
"If I didn't have those kids, I wouldn't have made it because I leaned on them so much,” Terri said.
The Saenz say the community's support has been overwhelming.
"I tell everybody it’s game time. It’s time for him to get his game face on,” Terri said, knowing her son's biggest battle will now come off the field.
