If you're in the market to adopt a cat, this weekend you may want to visit the Grand Prairie Animal Shelter.

The Prairie Paws Animal Shelter is staying open late Thursday through Saturday night to send pets to good homes.

Adult cats (older than 6 months) will be free, and kittens will be $25 during the special.

The Grand Prairie shelter will stay open late Friday and Saturday to offer free cat adoptions to qualified families.

If you're approved to adopt, your new best friend will come with a 3-in-1 shot and a $50 spay or neuter voucher if they're not sterilized already.

The shelter said there are a lot of great pets available for adoption that need new families.  Up to two pets can be adopted per family and the free offer is only available for new adoptions.

The shelter is located at 2222 W. Warrior Trail and will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. They will be closed from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday.
