Fort Worth's Fourth Draws Thousands

Crowds came out to enjoy watching nearly two tons of fireworks at Fort Worth's Fourth.

Organizers expected nearly 70,000 people to show up for food, games, and live music on the banks of the Trinity River Saturday.

"For our pigmentation, fairly important, we are fans of shade and sunscreen," said Fort Worth resident Will Herbert.

"The rafting is neat, the zip line, the music and mainly the food I think; we've been on some summer diets, so this is a good time to splurge and celebrate the Fourth."

A long day of swimming and grilling ended with a spectacular fireworks show lasting a total of 27 minutes – by far the longest show in the Metroplex on the night of the Fourth of July.

NBC 5 was a proud sponsor of the event for the second year in a row. NBC 5 Today anchors Marc Fein and Deborah Ferguson emceed the event.

NBC 5's Chris Van Horne contributed to this story.
