Fort Worth Post Office Evacuated

A United States Post Office on the east side of Fort Worth was evacuated because of a suspicious package on Tuesday.

An alert customer reported the package at the post office in the 4600 block of East Rosedale Street on Tuesday morning.

Police closed Rosedale Street in front of the post office while they investigated.

Five different agencies responded to incident. The Fort Worth bomb squad took the lead and sent in a robot outfitted with a camera to get a better look at the package.

After almost three hours, investigators decided that the best course of action was to simply blow up the box. Police discovered nothing dangerous inside the box.

The Fort Worth Fire Department said the suspicious package was the third left at the post office within two months.

Fort Worth police said they are looking for a person of interest but would not elaborate further on the case.

NBC 5's Lindsay Wilcox contributed to this report.
