Fort Worth Police Warns the Public About Releasing Financial Information

The Fort Worth Police Department says people should be cautious about releasing financial information to anyone claiming to upgrade your alarm or satellite system.

There are more than 3 reports received by FWPD about a white man portraying himself as a home security or satellite company employee in north Fort Worth neighborhoods, said Fort Worth police.

The white man is telling home owners that he can upgrade alarm or satellite systems.Police believe he may be driving a black 4 door BMW. There is no further information about the man's identity or characteristics at the time.

The FWDP said people can avoid door to door danger by following these rules:

  • Don't open the door to any strangers.
  • Talk through the door and find out what the person needs.
  • Ask the person to leave if you feel threatened and say you will call the police.
  • Never let children answer the door.
