Fort Worth Officer Not Indicted in Stun Gun Death

A Tarrant County grand jury has declined to indict a Fort Worth police officer in connection with the death of a 300-pound man who died shortly after being shocked with a stun gun during a drug raid.

The Tarrant County district attorney's office said Monday that the officer was no-billed on Friday in the May 2013 death of 34-year-old Jermaine Darden, who was shocked with a stun gun after resisting arrest during a drug raid at a house.

Darden, who was obese and suffering from cardiovascular disease, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The Tarrant County medical examiner ruled his death "natural," concluding that the stun gun did not contribute to his death.

The district attorney's office says all critical police incidents are taken to the grand jury.
