Fort Worth Families Displaced By Fire

No injuries but several families lost all their belongings

No one was injured but several families lost nearly everything in a fast-moving fire in East Fort Worth. The fire broke out at the Quail Ridge Apartments in the 4500 block of Brentwood Stair Road.

The fast moving fire spread through the building in just minutes, destroying six apartment units.

"We started having some roof failure," Fort Worth Fire Chief Kenny Freemen. "We were right at the critical point where we were going to have to pull out firefighters out, but we were able to keep them in there.. let them continue to work, we were able to put a stop on the fire."

Everyone inside got out safely, including members of the Meheshwaranathan family.

"Then we were out there and the fire started coming out," Kishalini Meheshwaranathan said. "I don't know where, like, where it came from."

Her mother had plenty of grief.

"We lost everything, we ask everyone," she said. "We lost everything, every document that belongs to us. We lost everything in that house."

The American Red Cross helped the families on Sunday night. Fort Worth Fire brought the flames under control in just 30 minutes.
