Former Fort Worth Cop Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assaults

Sentenced to 20 years for each guilty plea

Former Fort Worth police officer Daniel Lopez plead guilty on Wednesday to sexually assaulting five women while on duty.

Lopez was accused of forcing five different women to perform oral sex on him after he detained them between August and November 2010.

Lopez was originally charged with just one case of sexual assault, but as the investigation continued, officers found four other victims.

In court, Lopez showed little emotion as prosecutors read aloud statements from two of Lopez’s victims.

In her statement, one woman said, “I do not look at police officers the same anymore… It destroyed me and I don’t look at myself the same.”

Another victim said in a statement, you used “your authority to your sick advantage and that was not right.”

Judge Everett Young sentenced Lopez to 20 years in prison for each case, but all time served will run concurrently.

Lopez will have to serve at least 10 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.
