Former Soupmobile Customer Now an Employee

Harvor Davis has an important role with the Soupmobile.

"My job, as you can see behind me, is to put the smile on people's faces," he said. "Make sure they get well fed."

Once the serving begins, Davis walks the line, learning people's names and stories. He said he's figuring out their needs: Shelter, clothes or just a kind word.

"It's very important," he said. "People out here need this."

Davis was once in this line. He was homeless, but he wanted to work and bring joy to others.

"That's my calling," he said. "It's a blessing for me."

Six years ago, Davis struck up a conversation with Soupmobile director David Timothy. Now the two are colleagues, working side by side to serve more than 200,000 meals this year.

"Everybody is one step from being in this line," Davis said. "Through the grace of God, I found the Soupmobile."
