An address by former President Bill Clinton will cap a day of discussion by key leaders of the 1960s civil rights movement.
That's as the Civil Rights Summit enters its second day Wednesday at the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin.
The summit marks the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which outlawed discrimination in public places based on race, ethnicity, religion or gender.
Panels will include such luminaries as Andrew Young, a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a lieutenant of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.; movement chronicler Taylor Branch; and black sporting pioneers Harry Edwards, Jim Brown and Bill Russell.
The summit seeks to examine the legacy of the law that former President Lyndon B. Johnson considered one of his biggest achievements.
