The city of Flower Mound is mourning the loss of the city's first mayor and founding father.

Bob Rheudasil, who served as the first mayor of Flower Mound in 1961, died Monday morning at the age of 80.

Rheudasik was elected to three consecutive terms after being one of the leaders in defeating Irving's attempt to annex the area. The town of Flower Mound was incorporated after the annexation attempt was defeated.

Visitation will be at the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Flower Mound on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Rheudasil's funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, according to the Cross Timbers Gazette.
