Flashing Commemorative Badges

Arlington PD unveils badges honoring fallen brothers

Shake a cop’s hand. Thank him or her for the job they do, and if it happens to be an Arlington police officer, take a look at the badge.

The force, according to an article in the Star-Telegram, rolls out a limited-time commemorative badge for Super Bowl XLV, which takes place at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, but you knew that right?

The front depicts the Super Bowl logo, the date of the game, and a rendering of the stadium. The back lists the names of Arlington officers who've died in the line of duty — James E. Johnson, Gary Harl, Terry Lewis, Jerry Crocker, Craig Hanking, Joseph Cushman, and Craig G. Story.

A moment of silence, please.

The badges cost officers $50 each, so, hey, if a member of the APD is on your gift list, then, word. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Arlington Police Foundation.

Can’t help but wonder, though, how much they had to pay the NFL in licensing fees to use the logo. Those boys don’t give away anything.
